Welcome back to my blog. I hope you are doing well and have had a lovely weekend. I have just been working as per usual, but to be honest this weekend hasn’t been too bad and the shifts were actually okay. Anyway, if you follow either my Instagram or my Twitter you will know that I was invited to the NKD launch party in Leicester. This event took place on Thursday night and honestly, I had a fabulous time and just thought I would tell you about the event and share some beauty tips/tricks I learnt that evening as well.
At the moment the beauty industry is thriving and there is now on average 12 new beauty salons opening each week. In fact, the average woman in her lifetime in Britain will spend £70,000 on her appearance which equals to approximately £1352 a year. Thus, it is to see why there is such an interest in this industry. Entrepreneur Rebecca Dowell first established NKD as an independent waxing and beauty salon in Nottingham. Rebecca had spent a year abroad in Brazil, which is the home of Brazilian wax, and learned a lot about the different waxing techniques. Rebecca then embarked on bringing this new-found knowledge over to the UK and began her journey on becoming a national brand phenomena. The opening on her store in Leicester is her second one.
I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and it was so nice to be able to speak to experts about the different treatment programmes available. It was also great to have the opportunity to speak to Rebecca and learn about her story and the journey she has been on since opening a beauty salon. All the staff at the event were so lovely and it was so encouraging to hear them all speak so passionately about the salon, the company and the treatment programmes. They were all super enthusiastic and full of knowledge about all of the treatments. As someone who is interested in beauty, it was so nice to be able to speak to experts and learn even more knowledge, tips and tricks which helps make daily life easier.
To be honest, I didn’t really know a lot about waxing or having your eyelashes and eyebrows done. It hadn’t been something which I had researched a tonne into and so I really had quite limited knowledge. Plus, I had always thought it was really expensive for what you got done but it turns out that I was wrong. It was so nice to learn about getting your eyebrows done and learn about the benefits of HD brows. I now know so much more information and knowledge about HD brows or about having them waxed, tinted or threaded. This wasn’t an area which I knew much about at all and so it was nice to have a proper conversation with an expert, one-on-one and find out all the details and have an in-depth explanation about the different options available. Later that evening, I did win a free treatment to have my eye brows waxed and there will be a blog post following this where I speak about my experience of having my eye brows waxed especially since it was my first time.
Other than that, it was just generally a lovely evening being able to explore the salon and learn more about the company. It was so inspiring to speaking to Rebecca and everyone else who is part of the team. It was also lovely to meet and speak with some other bloggers and social media influencers. I had a great time meeting new people and learning more about this side of beauty but also learning more about blogging and social media influence. It was so nice to meet other bloggers in my niche and have people to talk to about blogging. Everyone was so encouraging and loved sharing knowledge and advice to help everyone learn more.
Overall, it was such a fantastic evening and I am so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and said yes to this opportunity. If you know me at all, you know I am not very confident, I am naturally quite a timid person and I normally shy away from public events. My boyfriend even said he was so surprised that I actually went so I was really proud of myself for saying yes and for going. It definitely was worth it and I am so glad I went. I learnt so much and had such a lovey time meeting the most amazing people who were all so encouraging and inspiring. They definitely knew what they were talking about and it was so lovely to see people so passionate about the company and their work. It was such a wonderful thing. I also enjoyed meeting other bloggers and social media influencers and finding out more about the platform. It really was such an invaluable experience and something I am so thankful for.
Thank you so much to Champions for the invitation to the event. I really appreciate it and it was so nice that I was approached due to my blog. I feel like my blog has grown so much over the past year, definitely to something I never dreamed of it doing so. Also, a huge thank you to NKD for having me at the event. It really was such a great experience and it was so nice to learn more about your company and meet an incredible set of staff who clearly are very passionate about what they do. I know I will definitely be coming back in future for other treatments. I very much appreciated the opportunity and I am thankful to you for having me at the launch. Also, thank you so much for reading and I hope you have learned more about the brand and about the whole experience. Like I say, there will be a post coming very soon explaining in detail my experience of having my eyebrows waxed. Leave me a comment below letting me know if you get your eyebrows waxed or eye lashes lifted because I would love to hear about your experiences Also don’t forget to check out NKD on their Instagram or Twitter because they have such an extensive list of treatments available which you should give a try and an amazing loyalty programme as well as fantastic student discount, so I will link them down below. Until next time!
